Way back in 1973 I got in my Volvo with a good buddy and drove from my home in New York to Boulder, Colorado, the almost mystical place all of us college students on the east coast kept hearing was the Shangri-La for all self-respecting hippies. Like so many of you who are reading this, it was instant love. The climate, the beauty, the gorgeous sunshine and, of course, the people…relaxed, happy, living the good life, made us both want desperately to live in this little paradise. On our long, sad ride home, we decided that owning a bar/restaurant in Boulder could very well be the most wonderful experience we could ever hope for.
My other career kept me in NYC until 1992 when I moved to Boulder and had the chance to realize my dream. Lazy Dog is the result of many years of thinking of how to create a warm, friendly, relaxed, high quality, great service neighborhood restaurant and do it in this Colorado paradise. I’m proud to say that since we opened in Boulder in 1997, the Lazy Dog and its staff has earned “Best of” in every publication year after year. We’ve given to dozens of charities, clubs, organizations, schools and individuals in the Boulder, Erie, Denver, Aurora, Littleton, Longmont, Westminster and other communities and that is by far the thing we’re the most proud of. Our #1 mission is to be a positive force in the neighborhoods we inhabit.
Our motto has always been “every drink, every meal, every customer, every time” and we continue to honor that. We hope you experience that and make Lazy Dog your home away from home.
Thank you all,
