Outdoor Activities around Boulder
Boulder was voted the number one cycling city in the country by Outdoor magazine! They cited the number of sunny days we have here, which frequently number up to 300, as well as the dedicated cycling infrastructure. The city boasts over 300 miles of bike paths, and a culture and consciousness that means that in a recent survey over half the residents felt the paths were safe. If you get a flat or need some bike related equipment, you will find no shortage of cycling shops to help you out. As with all outdoor activities, Coloradans find no excuses to stay in-doors, in fact, snowfall or cold weather seem to be taken as a challenge to find new ways to go outside, have fun, and stay active. Cycling is no exception, there are numerous places to strike out and do some winter mountain biking, and once the roads clear a bit, road cyclists will be out there too, zipping up and down the mountain roads and along scenic straightaways.
Whether you are a fly fisherman or into “regular” spin fishing, Boulder County has an abundance of opportunities for you to get out and catch rainbow trout, bluegill, black crappie, largemouth bass, or channel catfish, among other possibilities. Boulder Creek flows through town making it easy for you to get your fishing fix and still fit in other activities. If you are new to flyfishing there are numerous guides around who would be happy to show you the ropes.
